On April 15, 2016 Iredell County Sheriff’s Office say they received a report regarding a victim who said she had been sexually assaulted multiple times by a family member, identified as Joseph Nicholas Shaver of Salisbury, NC.
At the time the sexual abuse occurred, the victim was reportedly between the ages of 10-12 years old.
Authorities say several witnesses were identified and interviewed.
As a result of the investigation, Shaver was arrested and charged with five counts of First Degree Sexual Offense with a Child and 52 counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child.
Shaver is also being investigated in Mecklenburg County for similar allegations that occurred there involving another female family member.
