Hornets GM Rich Cho Limited On Comments After Trade

Cho Speaks to media after NBA Draft, Hornets trade pick for Belinelli

Not much buzz surrounding Buzz City’s first round draft pick. That’s because the team basically didn’t have one. Charlotte entered the day with the No.22 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, but made a deal with the Kings on draft night, just before things tipped off in Brooklyn.

The Hornets acquire veteran shooting guard Marco Belinelli from Sacramento.  Malachi Richardson, the player out of Vanderbilt selected by Charlotte with the 22nd pick, will play for the Kings.

The trade will not become official until next month when the NBA’s new salary cap season begins, the reason why Hornets GM Rich Cho’s comments were limited following Thursday night’s draft.

Belinelli is a nine-year NBA veteran who has played for six teams during his career, winning an NBA championship with the San Antonio Spurs in 2013-14. The 30 year old has averaged 9.5 points and 1.6 assists per game during his career.

He is a career 37.9 percent shooter from 3-point range and has started 216 career games.
