ROCK HILL, S.C. — Police are searching for a man who allegedly shot at officers during a foot pursuit in Rock Hill.
Officers attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle that was reportedly driving erratically on Cherry Road at Oakland Ave late Wednesday evening.
The suspect, who is described as a black male, wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a light colored hat, jumped out of the vehicle and ran from officers.
Officers chased the suspect on foot until the suspect reportedly got blocked by a fence. Police say that is when the suspect pulled out a gun and fired at officers. The officers immediately returned fire but the suspect got away.
No officers were injured but police are not sure if the suspect was injured in the shootout. The officer who fired his weapon has been placed on administrative leave, which is routine procedure.
Police are asking anyone with information on this incident to call 911.
