NC Senate Approves Budget Compromise
CHARLOTTE, NC– North Carolina’s teachers are closer to getting much needed raises tonight. The State Senate approved a 22.34 billion dollar budget compromise this evening.
The budget gives teachers an average raise of 4.7 percent, and brings the average teacher’s pay above 50,000 dollars. It cuts middle class taxes by increasing the standard deduction.
A typical family will save at least 110 dollars next year. The budget also gives state workers a 1.5 percent raise.
The House is expected to approve the budget later this week.
