New Public Beach Packed On Independence Day

CORNELIUS, NC– Lots of people spent their Independence Day at the new Ramsey Creek Beach on Lake Norman in Cornelius. So many, that people had to be turned away a few times when beach parking reached maximum capacity.

“I guess its the holiday and everybody wants to go to the beach.. This is just open and its new and everybody wants to come here. Its nice, a family place,” said Bunny Spingola.

Mecklenburg County’s first public beach opened Memorial Day weekend, but without problems. The beach holds 500 people, but only has 127 parking spots.

To ease the congestion and concerns of people living nearby, the county offers a free shuttle on holidays and weekends through labor day.
