CHARLOTTE, N.C. β The N.C. Department of Transportation will detour traffic on I-85 near Exit 58 in Cabarrus County as work continues on the project to expand the interstate.
Crews will first close I-85 South at the U.S. 29/601 interchange on Friday, July 8th, from midnight to 6 a.m. During this time, southbound traffic will be directed to travel up the U.S. 29/601 interchange ramp, cross U.S. 29/601, then travel down the adjacent ramp to re-access I-85 South.
Crews will then close I-85 North in the same location on Friday, July 15th, from midnight to 6 a.m. The detour will require motorists to use the I-85 North ramps to and from U.S. 29/601 to re-access I-85 North.
Motorists are encouraged to slow down, use caution and be mindful of crews working alongside the highway when traveling through the area.
