The American Red Cross Opens A Center For Mecklenburg County Residents

The facility is open to all Mecklenburg County residents who are still without power today after Friday's powerful storms.

CHARLOTTE, NC – The American Red Cross opened a relief center today to help aid Mecklenburg County residents that are still without power after Friday’s powerful storms.

The facility is hosted at the Northwest School of the Arts Gymnasium. The Northwest School of the Arts is accessible by means of the CATS Route #7. The location is on 1415 Beatties Ford Rd in Charlotte.

The facility will be open from noon to 7pm this evening.

Duke Energy said that restoration may take until Monday at 11: 45 p.m. According to Duke Energy, as of 12: 30 p.m. this afternoon, approximately 24,000 Duke Energy customers remained without electricity. Duke Energy says that approximately 350,000 customers lost power at some point after Fridays’ storm.
