Research by a professor at Yale University shows that 3 in 10 married couples are made up of people with different political parties, but only 1 in 10 are a Democrat with a Republican.

A different study published in the journal Political Behavior explains why. It claims people in a social or cultural group tend to evaluate members of their own group more positively, and people outside of that group more negatively.
