SHELBY, N.C. — Cleveland County deputies say they were taunted by employees and served tampered food at a Zaxby’s in Shelby.
The two deputies were taking a lunch break in their uniforms when employees cooking the food allegedly started yelling at them and calling them names.
One deputies’ wife shared the following post on Facebook:

She says the workers put the hottest possible sauce on the deputies’ food.
Zaxby’s later posted a statement regarding the issue.
“Both Zaxby’s and our franchisee are deeply sorry that this incident occurred, and we apologize to the community and law enforcement of Cleveland County.
