State College, P.A.– In 2014, a man testified that former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno ignored complaints of sexual assault committed by assistant coach Jerry Sandusky in 1976 when the man was 14-years-old, according to new unsealed court documents.
According to court documents, the man’s lawyer stated, “Is it accurate that Coach Paterno quickly said to you, βI donβt want to hear about any of that kind of stuff, I have a football season to worry about?'” The man replied, “Specifically. Yes β¦ I was shocked, disappointed, offended. I was insultedβ¦ I said, is that all youβre going to do? Youβre not going to do anything else?” The man then stated that Paterno walked away.
The documents released Tuesday also contain several allegations of other incidents of Sandusky acting inappropriately with young boys that were reported or witnessed by some Penn State athletic officials over the span of 22 years.
Sandusky was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years in prison after his conviction in 2012.
