Family Sues CMS Over Claims of Repeated Bullying
CHARLOTTE, NC — A family is suing the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education, claiming the district did not protect their son from repeated bullying.
The suit says the fourth grader from Highland Creek Elementary was verbally attacked by other students over his nut allergy.
“He had a student that kept threatening him with nuts. To put them in his bookbag, in his desk. He wasn’t allowed to have his epi pen. He wasn’t allowed to have Bennadryl on him,” said Karen Vaughn, attorney for the student’s family.
The suit goes on to say the school did nothing to keep the two boys apart. The parents pulled their son out of school in May.
