CFD Responds To Sulfuric Acid Spill
CHARLOTTE, NC– One person was treated for injuries at the scene of a sulfuric acid spill in North Charlotte.
Hazmat crews were called to Abemor Incorporated on West 24th street around one this afternoon. It took more than 40 firefighters about an hour to clear the scene.
Fire crews say it’s a challenge working in such hot weather.
“Whenever we do have a large incident, we have guys out here in the environment, we’re going to take care of them,” said Charlotte Fire Captain Jackie Gilmore. “Medic is going to respond to all incidents that we have. They’re gonna treat the firefighters if needed.”
Firefighters say the sulfuric acid was being stored inside the building but couldn’t say how it got spilled.
