CMPD Holds Active Shooter Training For Bars And Nightclubs

CHARLOTTE, NC– Recent deadly shootings in Orlando and Fort Myers, Florida have put a focus on active shooter situations in bars and nightclubs.

CMPD’s crime prevention and ABC units held and active survival training for Charlotte-area establishments today at the Police and Fire Training Academy. The goal is to make sure these businesses have a plan in place to help employees stay alive.

“You have to have some type of a plan of action of what you’re going to do if a situation like an active shooter comes to your business,” said Lt. Seve Huber of the CMPD

“It’s better that we plan for the unexpected, because these days you just don’t know,” said Diane Gist of the Red Diamond Event Center
