Heat Related Illnesses On The Rise Due to Extreme Temps

Emergency officials are seeing an increase in heat related illnesses due to the recent high temperatures in the Charlotte area.

The York County Coroner’s Office says a man died from heat exposure Monday.  Ronnie Moore was found unresponsive on the side of the road.  He reportedly had an excessive temperature and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Here are some signs and symptoms of heat related illnesses (information from WebMD):

  • Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Headache
  • Excessive thirst
  • Muscle aches and cramps
  • Weakness
  • Confusion or anxiety
  • Drenching sweats, often accompanied by cold, clammy skin
  • Slowed or weakened heartbeat
  • Dizziness
  • Fainting
  • Agitation
