Raucous Crowd Greets Donald Trump at VFW Convention in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC – A raucous crowd greeted Donald Trump and running mate Mike Pence at the VFW National Convention Tuesday.

While the audience for Hillary Clinton on Monday was polite, the crowd came to life for Trump, chanting “lock her up.”

“And to think she was here yesterday. I guess she didn’t do very well,” Trump told the crowd.

The Republican nominee says he won’t shut down the VA, but wants to give veterans the option to see private doctors.

“We will pick up the bill. It will cost us less money and the care will be amazing. OK? You have my word on that,” Trump said.

He told the crowd he also wants to put veterans at the front of the line for jobs.

Ed Smith says he appreciated Trump’s candor. “I thought he was going to be… (scripted).. but it’s more from the heart,” he says.

And while Clinton criticized Trump without mentioning his name, Trump didn’t hold back.

“Just look at her invasion of Libya and her handling of Benghazi. A disaster! Or look at her e-mails!” Trump said.
Not everyone liked what they heard though.

“Donald just makes general, just makes general comments trashing all that without providing any real evidence,” says Mike Rollins.
Rollins says he wanted to hear more specifics.

“To me he talks in generalities, platitudes, and I don’t really see anything I can support in what he said,” Rollins explains.
No matter how they feel, vets say they’re glad the candidates are paying attention to them.
