SPARTANBURG, SC- After an offseason filled with contractual obligations, TV shows, and some family time, Cam Newton is finally back to playing football.
The 2015 MVP is completely focused on the challenges of the new season. “I gain nothing on going back, I passed that bridge and learned from it. (We) are making the most of this team.”
Newton has a few personal goals during Training Camp- the top of the list is not throwing an interception to Linebackers Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis. “I’ve done good so far”.
During his first press conference of the new season, Newton talked about the care everyone has for each other and how it translates on the field. “It’s special what we have in the locker room. I know for a fact that you don’t get these types of teams often”.
Newton also joked about the midlife crisis that both he and Davis are going through. “Cam is too old to be blonding is beard, and TD is too old to have a mohawk. (We) always challenge each other”.
The challenge continues later Friday, when the Panthers hold their second practice of Training Camp at Wofford College.
“Nothing about encores” Newton said. “It’s all about living in the moment right now.”
