‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ Hype Shows the World is still Mad about Harry

Harry Potter's magic is back!

LONDON (AP) — Potterheads everywhere are getting charmed by the new Harry Potter addition.

Nine years after J.K. Rowling’s final novel about the boy wizard, Harry has returned, on the stage and the page – and he’s still creating commercial alchemy.

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is a two-part stage drama that picks up 19 years after the novels ended. It had its gala opening Saturday at London’s Palace Theatre and is all but sold out through December 2017.

Booksellers are expecting a bonanza when the script is published Sunday. Thousands of bookstores around the world are holding Potter Parties Saturday night as they’re getting numbers not seen since the 2007 publication of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” the final novel in the series.
