CHARLOTTE, N.C. – CMPD officers say a suspect surrendered himself to officials after an early Sunday morning standoff with SWAT.
Officers say they responded to the 400 block of Lambeth Drive early Sunday morning at approximately 6:21 a.m. to a female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Police say the suspect was inside a nearby apartment. Members of the SWAT Team and Negotiators were called to respond to the scene.
Officials say neighbors and nearby residents were relocated as a precaution.
Police say SWAT and the Negotiators set up a perimeter and made contact with the suspect. Officials say the suspect eventually surrendered himself to officers without incident. The suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment of what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The woman was transported to CMC with what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.
CMPD believe from information gathered on scene that this is a domestic related shooting and the suspect and victim know each other.
