Local Group Honors Police For ‘Back The Blue Day’

CHARLOTTE, NC– They are the ones who run towards danger when everyone else runs away.

Today one group made sure the men and women in blue know they are appreciated. Volunteers spent the day visiting police stations around Charlotte. We were there when they served lunch to officers at the Westover Station in West Charlotte.

Bill Spoon’s BBQ donated a full spread, and each officer got a gift bag an a hand-made thank you card.

“Who can’t smile at a child’s card. And some food, you know, its the way to everyone’s heart. Its just helps to bring moral up and let them know they’ve got support and we love them,” said event organizer, Rachel Decker.

Back the Blue Day is a movement that started online and is quickly spreading nation-wide.  This group plans to make it an annual event.
