County Leaders Look To Develop Old Charlotte Neighborhood

CHARLOTTE, NC– Tonight, Mecklenburg County leaders want to get the community involved in developing Brooklyn Village.

The land is the site of the former Brooklyn neighborhood, a mostly African-American community demolished in the 1960’s. The multi-use plan of retail, business and park space will replace the current Marshall Park and old Board of Education building. The county wants to preserve the area’s history.

Residents can give their input during a town hall meeting tomorrow night at the Government Center. It starts at 6:00 in Room 267.
