LINCOLNTON, N.C. — Police say they arrested a teacher for trying to solicit a minor for sex. Investigators say they posed online as a minor and agreed to meet Ricky Carpenter Jr to engage in sexual activity.
Carpenter is employed as a teacher for the Lincoln County School District. He has been placed on paid administrative leave.
Police arrested Carpenter when he arrived at the prearranged location. Carpenter was charged with soliciting a minor for an unlawful sex act by a computer and appearing to meet a minor.
Carpenter was given a $50,000 secured bond and placed in the Lincoln County Jail. Police say Carpenter has no prior criminal record.
