Residents, Officials Say Well Water Still Contaminated
CHARLOTTE, NC– The coal ash controversy heats up tonight with residents and activists demanding public documents from Governor McCrory’s office.
The group joined Catawba River Keeper Sam Perkins at the Government Center today. They say their well water is still contaminated from coal ash, despite state health officials saying it is safe.
State toxicologist Ken Rudo is working with the residents.
In a deposition for a law suit over coal ash… He said North Carolina’s top public health official acted unethically, and possibly illegally, when he said well water near coal ash ponds was safe to drink.
