3 Arrested After String Of BB Gun Attacks In Concord

CONCORD, NC — Concord Police say 3 people have been arrested after they shot victims with a BB gun throughout the Concord area.

18-year-old Christopher Mangum, 19-year-old Jacob Lytton, and 19-year-old Matthew Mallon, all of Charlotte, have been charged with five counts of simple misdemeanor simple assault.

Concord Police say the shootings happened at three different locations on Tuesday, August 2nd. Reports say one person was shot in the parking lot at Concord Mills, three were shot in the parking lot at Walmart on Thunder Road, and one person was shot in the parking lot of Harris Teeter on Poplar Tent Road.

The suspect’s vehicle was caught on surveillance at the Walmart location, and was reported seen to police on August 3rd on Wilburn Park Lane in the Highland Creek Community.

Police found the vehicle and arrested two suspects. An airsoft rifle was also located and seized from the vehicle. A third suspect turned himself in a short time later.

CMPD is also investigating a similar incident that happened in north Charlotte.

CMPD says two juveniles were shot by a BB gun on August 3rd around 3:30pm on Highland Creek Parkway. No arrests or charges have been made in that case.
