Federal Judges Say NC’s Voting Districts Need To Be Redrawn
CHARLOTTE, NC– Three Federal Judges say North Carolina’s legislative districts have to be redrawn.
The judges say the current lines were drawn along racial lines in 2011, and helped Republicans pad their majorities.
To avoid confusion, those districts will not change before the November elections.
“It will create a little confusion because people will will oh I thought it was changed, will I get something. And yes you will get a new voter card once the changes takes place,” said Mecklenburg Co. Board Of Elections Member Kristin Mavromatis.
Today’s decision comes just six months after a judge struck down North Carolina’s Congressional Districts for similar reasons.
