Family, Community Mourn N. Meck Student Killed In Collision

HUNTERSVILLE, NC– “She was the perfect child, my daughter she was perfect, straight A’s, athletic.”

14-year-old Enjoneah Reel’s father Anthony says the family is in shock over her sudden death.

“It was so instant, you can’t prepare yourself for anything that happened,” said Reel.

The teen was about to start her sophomore year at North Meck High School where she excelled as a cheerleader, and nationally ranked track and shot putt athlete.

Anthony says Enjoneah’s boyfriend Kalvin McCollum, a senior football star at North Meck, was driving her home from getting her nails done on Thursday. He swerved to avoid an oncoming car that had crossed into their lane on McCoy road near Beatties Ford road but the two cars crashed.

Enjoneah died on impact, Kalvin spent Thursday night in surgery at CMC.

Huntersville police aren’t giving many details, reel says they didn’t even know Enjoneah died until hours after the crash.

“We were asking questions where was she what was going on, to no avail our questions were not answered and still is.”

Reel says they planned to take Enjoneah to Six Flags today, to celebrate her 15th birthday, which was coming up next week.

“We were going to take her Wednesday to get her learner’s permit now I have to bury my child on her birthday.”
