CHARLOTTE, N.C. – CMPD officers charged 52-year-old Gary Lavard Austin with the murder of 32-year-old Donnelle Quinton McDonald early Saturday morning.
Police say Austin and McDonald are family members.
Officers say they responded to the 6900 block of Olde Savannah Road in east Charlotte shortly after 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
CMPD say upon arrival they found McDonald suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead by Medic.
Police say Austin and McDonald were involved in an altercation that led to the shooting.
