Police Say Speed Is A Factor In An Early Morning Fatal Crash

Officials are still investigating to see if alcohol was also a factor in a crash that left one man dead Sunday morning

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One Charlotte man is dead after an early morning crash on Sunday.

Officials say 30-year-old Dennis Okavis Bufford died shortly before 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning when he lost control of his car in the 16300 block of Steele Creek Road, near Hamilton Place Drive.

CMPD says that Bufford’s car over-corrected and hit a tree on the side of the road.

Police say he was driving a 1997 Buick Lesabre.

Officials say speed is a factor in this crash. Police are still investigating if alcohol was also a factor.
