Autopsy Confirms Identities, Cause Of Death In Missing Woman Case

The Pageland Police Chief has confirmed that the bodies found over the weekend were those of the missing woman, Ann Bennett, and her boyfriend and suspect in the case, William Grant.
Officials say Bennett died of blunt force trauma. Her body was found Friday after a mailman reported a “smell” in the nearby area.
Grant, who’s body was found in the Pee Dee River, committed suicide according to officials. Investigators say they have video showing Grant visiting a gas station and car wash at which point he disposes of clothing in a field and proceeds to wash his car.

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, SC — Officials will hold a joint news conference at noon today regarding the possible bodies of Ann Bennett and William Grant that were found over the weekend.
Chesterfield County Sheriff Jay Brooks confirmed that a family fishing on the Pee Dee River in Cheraw around 11:30am Saturday found a body near the boat landing. Officials say the body was a black male around 50-years-old.
It is believed to be the body of William Grant. Grant was a suspect in the disappearance of his girlfriend Ann Bennett.
On Friday, officials located a body believed to be that of Ann Bennett in a shallow grave off of Guess Road. It was the same location that Bennett had been reported missing from on Monday August 15th.
Autopsies were scheduled over the weekend to confirm the identities of both individuals.
