Voluntary Water Restrictions in Fort Mill

FORT MILL, SC – Hot summer temps and little rainfall are taking a toll! People in Fort Mill are now being asked to voluntarily conserve water.

“Every time it rains, it storms around here, it always seems to storm just north of here in Charlotte. But it always seems to miss Fort Mill,” says Dena Adams.

Voluntary restriction include only watering lawns on Tuesday and Saturday night, limiting that watering to one inch per week, including rainfall, not filling pools, and not washing cars at home.

“I think we’ve had a dry summer. So it probably is a good idea,” says Gloria Willis.

Parts of our area have seen lots of rain – like recently in Statesville.

But in Fort Mill – it’s a different story.

And though voluntary restrictions are in place, Rick Angely says he doesn’t expect people will follow them.

“You know, with the dirt, and the dry dust, and you get stuff on your car, you want it to be clean, you know. You’re gonna wash your car,” Angely says.
