Texas Teacher Gets Rid of Homework for Students

Charlotte, NC — Students in a second grade class in Texas are getting a big break from homework. Brandy Young sent this letter home to the parents in the Godley Independent School District. The letter announced her new homework policy. Young said research has been unable to prove that homework improves student performance so she said she would not be formally assigning homework this year. Instead she suggested parents spend their evenings eating dinner as a family, reading together, playing outside and getting your child to bed early.
