Driver Charged In Fatal Chester County Accident

Officials say Alicia Hughes has been charged with Felony DUI Resulting In Death.
Hughes was arrested on Thursday and is currently being held at the Chester County Detention Center.
CHESTER, SC — Troopers are investigating after one person was killed in an accident Sunday evening.
The accident happened on U.S. 21 near Catawba River Road around 7:10pm Sunday. Investigators say 30-year-old Alicia Hughes of Thomasville, NC was heading north when she crossed into oncoming traffic and hit 39-year-old Yaneshia Craig of Lancaster, SC and her passenger head on.
According to officials, no one involved was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Craig’s passenger was airlifted to Palmetto Richland and was later pronounced dead.
Craig and Hughes were both taken to Palmetto Medical Center for treatment.
Troopers say the investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed at this time.
