Residents Of Charlotte Neighborhood Oppose Planned Carwash

CHARLOTTE, NC– Some people living in the Plaza-Shamrock area are trying to stop a car from being built near their homes.

More than 500 people signed an online petition against it.

The plan would replace a gas station on the corner of the Plaza and Herrin Avenue with a large automatic car wash.

Neighbors say there are already five car washes in a 1.5 mile radius.

“We need something else there,” said resident Betty Davis. “Something that will build up the neighborhood and not tear it down.”

City leaders plan to discuss the re-zoning of that site later this year.
