CMS Shows Improvement In The Classroom
CHARLOTTE, NC– Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has reason to celebrate topping the charts in graduation rates and growth.
State academic rankings released today show 86% of district schools met or exceeded expected growth and graduation rates rose to nearly 90%, the highest in the state.
Superintendent Ann Clark says part of the progress comes from teachers pushing and challenging students.
“I’ve been in classrooms this entire week and what makes my heart sing after my first 4 days is that I’m seeing less time spent by teachers on rules and procedures and amazing instruction happening,” said Clark
Clark says she is also working on a comprehensive plan with teachers to shadow instructors at other schools.
