Neighbors Notice Traffic & Parking Improvements At Ramsey Creek Park Beach

CHARLOTTE, NC – Another big holiday crowd soaked up the sun on Labor Day at Ramsey Creek Park Beach on Lake Norman.

“It is such a beautiful day, especially for the last day of the beach,” says Dallas, NC resident Brittany Spingola.
She has come here several times this summer.. and she’s noticed a big change.

When WCCB Charlotte was here on Memorial Day, we saw people directing traffic and crowds walking from half a mile away.

Today, we saw no traffic issues.

Neighbor Julie Spear says back then parking was a big problem too.

“There were cars parked in people’s yards and in their lawns and on driveways and it was crazy,” she explains.

Now, she says some of the problems have been fixed.

“As the Summer has gone on, I think the regulars who are coming to the beach have learned kind of OK what to expect and where they can and cannot park,” Spear says.
Anna Kirkland with Mecklenburg County Park and Rec says, as expected, numbers dropped off after the initial opening.

“Our numbers started to fall after July 4th. Continued to fall in August,” Kirkland
explains.

She says a shuttle service has also eased traffic concerns.
“It has. It has helped tremendously.”
