Surplus Land Near Sedgefield Middle Likely Won’t Be Developed
CHARLOTTE, NC – After a County Commission vote, surplus land near a South Charlotte Middle School likely won’t be turned into a townhome development.
People in the Sedgefield neighborhood had been fighting a CMS plan to sell nearly four acres of wooded area and green space near Sedgefield Middle School.
Instead, County Commissioners are asking CMS to remove the land from their surplus list.
If the district doesn’t agree, the Commission will use their right of first refusal to buy the land themselves, then reduce the money they send to CMS for Capital Improvements.
