York County Mourns Veteran Detective

YORK, CO., SC– “Super intelligent extremely hard worker good friend very real individual,” said York County Sheriff office, Investigator Paula Neely.

Coworkers at the York County Sheriff’s Office say they’re still in shock over 18 year veteran detective Tim Buchanan’s sudden heart attack and death at his daughter’s wedding in Costa Rica on Saturday.

“He wasn’t paying attention to his body and he went anyways because it was so important to him to be in Costa Rica for his daughters wedding,” said Neely.

Coworkers say Buchanan worked around the clock in the stressful Cyber Crimes Division. They say his wife Jeni hopes this can serve as a life saving warning for someone else – to get health concerns checked out.

“That’s something his family wants to share, it’s not so much about them now, They want to make sure that ,, you take care of yourself and by taking care of yourself you take care of your family,” said Lt Carson Neely with the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Now friends say they will remember him most for his love of people.

“A big teddy bear, Tim never let you leave anywhere without saying you have to give me a hug before you leave ,” said Director of Forensics, George Weeks.

Coworkers say Tim’s wife Jeni is expected back in the States Wednesday no word yet on any funeral plans. Family friends have already set up Go fund me account, https://www.gofundme.com/jenibuchanan
