Local Teacher Shot During Robbery, Manhunt for Gunman


CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Officials have identified the female victim as 33-year-old Ruijuan Guo.

Police say this is an ongoing, active investigation.

WCCB has confirmed that Guo was employed with The Union County School District and is a teacher at Kensington Elementary.

They say the robber shot her in her head, and doctors tell them it’s an unrecoverable injury. Family is working to get visas to come to the United States to see Guo one last time before taking her off life support.

“Ruijuan was a teacher at Kensington Elementary. She was involved in the cultural immersion program where she taught her children totally in Chinese. She was guest to our community and as a community we are responsible for what happened to her,” Lizzie Xu wrote on the Go Fund Me site.

CHARLOTTE, NC– Detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in the Central Division on East Park Avenue.

The call for service came in on Friday, September 9th when officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call.

Upon arrival officers say they located a female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to CMC Main with life threatening injuries.

Detectives determined that the shooting happened during the course of a robbery.
