Governor McCrory Offers Reward In Shooting Of Shelby Police Officer

RALEIGH, N.C. — Governor Pat McCrory announced that the state of North Carolina is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for shooting a Shelby police officer.

Officer Tim Brackeen was shot in the line of duty on September 10th off Parkview Street in Shelby.  He is a 12-year veteran of the department and was also a former officer of the year.

Officer Brackeen was searching for a subject who was wanted on outstanding warrants when the shooting happened.

Investigators have identified the suspected gunman as 23-year-old Irving Fenner Jr. of Grover, North Carolina.

Officer Brackeen is currently hospitalized in stable but critical condition.  Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Shelby Police Department at 704-484-6845.
