Suspect In The Murder Of A Shelby Police Officer Arrested In Rhode Island

CHARLOTTE, NC — Rhode Island State Police say they have arrested Irving Fenner, Jr. who is charged with the murder of Shelby Police Officer Tim Brackeen.

Officials say Fenner was spotted in Providence, Rhode Island late Tuesday night which prompted a massive search. Early Wednesday morning Fenner was then located at a home in nearby Coventry. Rhode Island State Police, FBI, Coventry Police, and U.S. Marshals breached the home around 2am and arrested Fenner, according to reports.

Fenner is currently in a Rhode Island hospital being treated for a gunshot wound that he is believed to have gotten during a shootout with Officer Brackeen.

Fenner’s arrest comes hours after police arrested four other people in connection to Officer Brackeen’s murder.

Deitra Morris has been charged with accessory to murder. Ashley Hamrick is charged with harboring an escapee. Casey Fenner, Irving Fenner’s half sister, was arrested in New York, and Jolisa Peeler was arrested in Rhode Island, and they will both be charged for their alleged parts in the case.

Morris and Hamrick will be appearing in court today.
