Police Arrest Man Accused Of Setting Woman On Fire In Albemarle

UPDATE: Police arrested David Sutton Thursday morning.  He was taken to the Stanly County Jail and received a $1M bond.

ALBEMARLE, N.C. — Police are searching for a man accused of throwing gasoline on a woman during an argument and setting her on fire.

Officers were called to West Main Street in reference to a woman with burn injuries.  Detectives say the victim had second and third degree burns on her face and upper torso.

It was determined that the victim was involved in a domestic dispute with David Sutton when he reportedly dumped gasoline on her and set her on fire, according to a news release.

Sutton is wanted for attempted first degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injuries and assault with serious bodily injury.

Anyone with information on Sutton’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
