One Dead, One Injured In Shooting In Northwest Charlotte
UPDATE: Police say lanes are closed on Brookshire Blvd at I-85 due to this homicide investigation. These closures could impact traffic for the Panthers game.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating a homicide in northwest Charlotte. Detectives say a sergeant was riding on Brookshire Blvd at I-85 just after 6am when he observed what he believed to be a vehicle accident.
After pulling up at the accident scene, police say the sergeant noticed a male victim standing near the vehicle with a gunshot wound to his arm. Inside the vehicle was a second male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, according to police. The second male was pronounced deceased on scene by Medic. The identity of the second victim will be released pending family notification.
Detectives with the Homicide Unit are canvassing the area to determine whether there are any witnesses to this incident.
Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team, Real Time Crime, Special Investigations, and Operations Command responded to the scene.
