Man Facing Child Abuse Charges, Infant On Life Support

ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies arrested a man on serious child abuse charges after an infant was found unresponsive at a home in Alexander County.

Investigators say Justin Carver called 911 to report that an 18-month-old child in his care had fallen off a couch.

Emergency crews arrived on the scene and felt the injuries did not match the call and reported the case to the sheriff’s office.

The child was airlifted to a children’s hospital in Winston-Salem where the child is currently on life support.

Detectives say Carver was the only caretaker of the child at the time of incident. Carver has been charged with felony child abuse and placed under a $500,000 secured bond.
