KANNAPOLIS, NC — Police are currently investigating what may have caused a single car accident Tuesday afternoon that left one person dead.
Officials say the accident happened on Lane Street between Evelyn and Laura Avenue. The driver, a 43-year-old man who has not yet been identified, was heading west when he ran off the road and struck a telephone pole. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators say drivers should expect Lane Street between Bostian Avenue and Laura Avenue to be closed for two or three hours. Detours have been put in place to avoid the area.
