Police Identify Pedestrian Killed In East Charlotte Accident
CHARLOTTE, NC — Police have identified the victim in Wednesday’s deadly accident on Albemarle Road in east Charlotte.
Officials say 33-year-old Dennis Dortch was running south down Reddman Road around 11:40am when he went to cross the intersection at Albemarle and was hit by a 2008 Honda Civic heading west in the right lane. Dortch was thrown into the left lane where he was hit again by a 2016 Dodge Cravan that was also heading westbound. Officials say both cars had green lights at the time of the accident.
Investigators say alcohol, speed, or drugs were not factors in the accident, and that both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time.
The driver of the Honda Civic, Michelle Haller, was charged with driving while license revoked and having an expired registration on a citation.
