ROCK HILL, SC — Police have arrested a man they say is accused of beating a dog repeatedly in order to teach and discipline it.
According to reports, 24-year-old Christian Porter was arrested after officers were called to 1040 Park Meadow Drive on Saturday by Porter’s mom who claimed he was beating the dog. Officers say Porter’s mother told them he had been beating their blue Pit Bull regularly when the dog ran off.
The mom had then taken possession of the dog after Porter went to jail, officers say, but when Porter got out of jail he resumed continuously beating the dog when he thought she had done something wrong.
When investigators interviewed Porter he told them that he beat the dog to teach it discipline. Porter also said he “pins the dog down and tells it how he feels about it” and will hit the dog so hard that her body will spin, according to police reports.
Animal Control evaluated the dog at the scene, and advised officers that she be taken immediately to prevent further harm.
Porter has been arrested and is charged with Violation of Dog Ordinance (Abuse of Dog).
