Gov. McCrory Issues State Of Emergency For All Of NC

UPDATE at 5:15pm: Governor McCrory announced that the State of Emergency initially issued to 66 counties will no be for the entire state of North Carolina.

“This declaration will allow us to use further resources throughout the state to assist with the storm response here at home and to our neighboring states to the south,” Governor McCrory said. “It will also allow us to better support evacuees heading further inland from impacted areas, including the North Carolina coast.”

The governor and state emergency management officials are continuing to follow Hurricane Matthews progress and we will continue to update as new information comes in.


KINSTON, NC — At 2pm Thursday Governor Pat McCrory gave an update on Hurricane Matthew from the NC Emergency Management Eastern Office in Kinston.

McCrory laid out preparations that are still underway, and said that North Carolina’s guard is still up despite recent tracks showing Matthew turning east just above Charleston, SC. The Governor said he has been in contact with local, state, and federal officials and has resources readily available should flooding occur or evacuations become necessary.
