Gov. Haley: Already Seeing Winds Near Tropical Storm Levels Around Charleston Area

UPDATE at 6pm: Governor Nikki Haley gives a 6pm update on the status of Hurricane Matthew as it continues to push towards the Carolina coast.
Officials said during the conference that the storm appears to be weakening but storm surges and flooding still pose a great risk for South Carolina residents, especially on the coast.
So far, Haley says 2,500 guardsmen have been activated and 355,000 people have been evacuated.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Gov. Nikki Haley provided an update Friday morning on South Carolina preparations as Hurricane Matthew approaches.
Haley said their biggest concern is the barrier island and they believe Daufuskie Island will be underwater.
Haley also said they are worried about a lot of power outages over an extended period of time. So far, 310,000 people have evacuated.
