CHARLOTTE, N.C. – CMPD responded to a pedestrian hit Sunday morning at approximately 1:19 a.m. on the 4900 block of North Tryon Street.
Officials say 23-year-old Christopher Giovanni Sarai Granillo was traveling northbound in the left lane at a high rate of speed when his vehicle struck 53-year-old Douglas Clough.
Officers say Clough was attempting to cross the street when Granillo hit him.
CMPD say Clough was pronounced dead on scene by Medic as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash. Officials say alcohol was a factor in this crash.
Granillo was transported from the scene to Carolina’s Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Granillo was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter, Felony Death by Vehicle, Driving While Impaired, Driving While License Revoked and Open Container.
