Gov. McCrory Activates The NC Disaster Relief Fund

RALEIGH, NC — Governor Pat McCrory and the United Way of North Carolina are partnering to provide support for long-term recovery efforts following the devastation from Hurricane Matthew.

The news comes as Governor McCrory announced that he has activated the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund.

“A lot of communities are hurting right now in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew and the devastation is beyond words,”Β said Governor McCrory in a news release Tuesday. “Our people are resilient and this disaster relief fund will help ensure North Carolina recovers.”
Anyone that would like to donate to the relief fund can visit NCDisasterRelief.orgΒ or mail checks payable to “North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund” to:

Officials say the fund only accepts monetary donations, and will not accept food or clothing.

Governor McCrory is also warning residents to be cautious of scammers and urging people to support trusted organizations working in affected areas.

“Unfortunately, disasters can lead to an increase in fraud or money scams,” said Governor McCrory. “We want to ensure people know which organizations are trusted to provide the best support to affected communities. As we work together to recover from Hurricane Matthew, be aware of potential scams.”
