McCrory: State Death Toll Reaches 17 After 3 More Drownings
UPDATE at 5:15pm: Governor McCrory says that three more people have died from drownings as a result of Hurricane Matthew, bringing the state death toll up to 17.
McCrory says officials are continuing in their rescue and recovery efforts around the affected counties, and are monitoring several rivers expected to crest this week.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Gov. Pat McCrory held a news conference to provide an update on the flooding situation in North Carolina.
Robeson and Cumberland counties are seeing the biggest impacts with flooding from Hurricane Matthew.
Fourteen total people have died in the state and thousands of wildlife animals have drown.
McCrory said more than 2,000 water rescues have been made since Hurricane Matthew passed through the state over the weekend.
More than 282,000 people are still without power and 35 roads remain closed in the state.
